Fairfield Suites in Amherst to hold grand opening

A ribbon cutting and grand opening of the new Fairfield Inn and Suites Buffalo Amherst/University will take place from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, at 3880 Rensch Road in Amherst.

The event features cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and tours of the hotel.

The four-story, 107-room hotel is located near the University at Buffalo North Campus, as well as Ellicott Hotels’ extended stay hotel, Staybridge Suites Amherst.

“With the tremendous growth on the UB North Campus and the full slate of activities at the nearby Northtown Center, Ellicott Hotels saw an increased demand in Amherst for shorter-stay bookings,” said David Lacki, director of Sales and Marketing at Ellicott Hotels. “This new hotel with its clean, contemporary design and free breakfast fits the bill for travelers.”

“The Fairfield Inn is booking guests attending hockey tournaments at the Northtown Center and is even booking ahead to next summer for travelers participating in a swimming championship in the Town of Tonawanda. Also generating bookings are events involving the 27,000 students attending the University at Buffalo.

“While many hotels have been going up in downtown Buffalo, Amherst remains an active community for overnight stays,” said AJ Baynes, Amherst Chamber of Commerce president. “In addition to a strong base of corporate travelers, we are now seeing a growing number of recreational guests.”
