Sacred Heart girls cross-country wins small school division at West Seneca Invite

Sacred Heart’s varsity girls cross-country team opened its 2018 season by winning the small school division at Saturday’s West Seneca Invitational at Sunshine Park.

The race was held under record-setting heat.

“All of the kids ran hard and finished their races,” Sacred Heart coach Bob O’Donnell said.

Anna Ridge finished 11th out of 60 runners in 21 minutes, 59 seconds.

Erin Hardick placed 14th in 22:49. Morgan Giancaterino placed 15th in 22:51. Brigid Christ took 17th in 22:54. Claire Hejaily took 20th in 23:02.

The 9-10 team took fourth overall. Isabella Rajecki took fifth out of 68 runners in 24:20. Jackie McDonnell finished 24th in 26:06, Lainie Smith placed 28th in 26:16 and Emma Beecher placed 34th in 27:04.

In the JV race, Lizzy Venditti took second out of 67 runners in 23:30. Emma Galus placed 33rd in 27:26.

Sacred Heart competes in the East Aurora Invitational on Saturday at East Aurora High School.
