East swimming drops opening meets

Photo by Kathleen KramerPurchase color photos at www.BeeNews.com Williamsville East’s swim team fell to 0-2 to start the season after losing against powerhouses Orchard Park, 145-37, on Sept. 11 at Transit Middle School and Lancaster, 112-58, on the road Friday.

Jessica Shine was East’s lone double winner of the week, taking the 200 IM in 2:18.85 and the 100 fly in 1:00.94 against Lancaster.

Lauren Clark won the 200 free against Lancaster in 2:08.24 and took second in the 100 free in 58.05.

The 200 medley relay of team of Sidney Bucko, Ariel Faust, Shine and Clark took second in 2:03.99.

Sydney Kim swam a personal best in the 100 back of 1:10.42.

The 200 free relay of Clark, Faust, Emily Xu and Shine finished second in 1:49.98.

Against Orchard Park, the 200-yard medley relay of Kim, Faust, Shine and Clark took third in 2:01.45.

Shine took second in the 200 IM in 2:18.88. Clark finished third in the 50 free in 27.36 and in the 100 free in 59.15. Xu qualified for ECICs in the 50 free in a personal-best time of 28.15. Riddhi Shelat recorded a personal-best time by 25 seconds in the 500 free in 6:39.36.

The 200 free relay of Clark, Xu, Faust and Shine took third in 1:50.22. Faust placed third in the 100 breast in 1:19.97.

The 400 free relay of Kim, Joelle Silvestri, Henley Mason and Sidney Bucko placed third in 4:31.55.

East traveled to West Seneca West on Tuesday, but information about the meet was unavailable before The Bee went to press. The Lady Flames host Frontier on Friday at Transit Middle School.
