Amherst Youth and Recreation plans fall programs

A free movie matinee featuring “Peter Rabbit” will begin at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, in the auditorium at Harlem Road Community Center.

A fall festival will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at Bassett Park. There will be entertainment, crafts, face painting, games, food and more. The event is free.

Indoor pickup volleyball, for ages 16 and older, will be held from 8 to 9:30 p.m. Wednesdays at Clearfield Community Center. Men’s basketball, for ages 18 and older, will be held from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m. Tuesdays at Clearfield Community Center. Tennis programs, for ages 18 and older, will take place at Ellicott Creek Trailway Courts on North Forest Road in Williamsville. There will be morning tennis from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesdays; competitive match-play tennis from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays; and tennis drills and games from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays. Beginning tennis, for children ages 5 to 7, will be held from 4 to 5 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at Clearfield Tennis Courts. The program is also available for children ages 8 to 12 from 5 to 6 p.m. Instruction will include forehand, backhand, serve, volley and rules of the game. Tiny Tots Tennis, for children ages 3 to 5, will be held from 11 to 11:30 a.m. and 11:40 a.m. to 12:10 p.m. Mondays at Clearfield Tennis Courts. Youth floor hockey, for children ages 9 to 12, will take place from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Mondays beginning Sept. 12 in the small gym at Clearfield Community Center. Daily activities include a short skill development drill followed by a friendly game. The cost is $20 for Amherst residents with valid ID and $45 for nonresidents.
