ASH TREES ALONG YOUNGS

— The Town of Amherst Highway Department has started to remove the dead ash trees that are on the town’s property between Youngs Road and Presidio Place. According to Superintendent of Highways Patrick Lucey, the dead trees are a hazard to the power lines that exist on both sides of the property and to private homes and structures. Since the area is extensive and there are hundreds of trees that have to be removed, there is no set date for completion of the project. Lucey said there are no current plans for replanting, but the department is open to ideas for the landscaping. Additionally, a letter was distributed to residents in that area about the project. — The Town of Amherst Highway Department has started to remove the dead ash trees that are on the town’s property between Youngs Road and Presidio Place.
