Open House slated for future leaders program

Niagara County Community College will sponsor a new initiative this summer to empower girls as part of the Future Leaders Liberty Partnerships Program. Camp activities will culminate in an open house at the New York State Power Authority, Niagara Power Project, 5777 Lewiston Road, Lewiston, from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15. This free event will showcase the girls’ work and experiences. This event is sponsored by a New York State Department of Education grant. For more information, call Jamie Reid at 278-8151.

2018 Business and Education Forum planned

The Business Council of New York State Inc. has announced the details of the 2018 Business and Education Forum. The event will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Buffalo Marriott Niagara in Amherst. This is an inaugural event designed to bring educators and businesses under one roof to discuss ways to bridge the talent gap and ensure that New York businesses have access to the workforce they need. Free business training classes available

Enrollment is open for free business startup classes scheduled to begin Wednesday, Sept. 5. The eight-week, 60-hour program will have classes on Monday and Wednesday evenings at Medaille College through late October. The program will cover business plan writing, understanding the customer and competition, financing, cash flow, marketing, taxes and other aspects of running a small business.
