North Presbyterian to host chicken BBQ

North Presbyterian Church, 300 N. Forest Road, will host a Chiavetta’s barbecued chicken dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 18. Dinners cost $10 and include a roll and side dishes. There will also be a drive-thru service for those who want to grab and go. To purchase presale tickets, visit the church office from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday or from 8 a.m. to noon Friday. Proceeds will go toward alleviating the church deficit. Audubon Library to host CPR class

A free hands-only CPR class will be held from 4 to 5 p.m. Friday, July 13, at the Audubon Library, 350 John James Audubon Parkway. The class will be led by a certified American Heart Association instructor. Ages 12 and older are welcome. There will be free refreshments and a certificate of completion. Garden club meeting slated for July 12

The Town and Country Garden Club will hold a meeting and picnic at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 12, at the home of Claudia Kolbe-Hawthorne, 3 Beale Ave., Cheektowaga. The club will tour her garden. Her garden is included in the Tours of Open Gardens garden tours, which is open on Thursdays and Fridays through July.

Creative nature play series begins July 18

Amherst Youth and Recreation will host the Creative Nature Play Series from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesdays beginning July 18. The program encourages children ages 4 to 10 to be outdoors and fall in love with nature while learning about it. Participants will meet outside Noll Nature Center in Glen Park, rain or shine. Dates and topics include: July 18, “What’s Under that Rock, Papa?” July 25, “Water Wonders” and Aug. 1, “Hideout for Trolls.” To register, visit www.amherstyouthandrec.org

Zion Dominion plans Chiavetta’s fundraiser

Zion Dominion Global Ministries will host a Chiavetta’s dinner fundraiser from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, July 22, at the church, 895 N. Forest Road. Tickets cost $10 for eat in or takeout dinners. For presale tickets, call Erica Davis at 247-3060 or Donna Reed at 507-5729.

Noll Nature Center to host nature series

The Glen Park Weekly Nature Series, for children ages 7 and older, is being held from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesdays at the Noll Nature Center in Glen Park. Each week brings a different themed lesson about the different facets of nature. Dates and topics include: July 17, “Cycles”; July 24, “Tale of Scales”; July 31, “Birds of a Feather”; Aug. 7, “The Ways of Water”; Aug. 14, “Stream Walkers” and Aug. 21, “Animal Engineers.” The cost is $5 per child per week.
