Cross-country camp set

The All-Western New York Cross-Country Camp, a destination running camp for students entering seventh through 12th grade, will be held from 8:15 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. July 25, 27 and 30, and Aug. 1 and 3.

Runners will travel to different sites each day, but the home base for the camp is at Williamsville North High School, 1591 Hopkins Road, Williamsville.

The camp director is Williamsville North boys cross-country coach Brian Lasher. The associate head coach is Justin Weldon, Clarence’s boys and girls cross-country coach.

There will be junior groups for athletes entering seventh through ninth grade and a senior group for athletes entering 10th through 12th grade. Awards will be given to the top six scorers and a camp champion for the top runner.

An emphasis of the camp will be on appropriate challenges for runners based on individual experience, preparation and goals.

A Paavo training model will be introduced and developed through an individual logbook.

The cost is $140 for an individual and includes a camp T-shirt. Five or more team members attending from a school may receive a discount or a rebate.

A single day overnight camp in Ellicottville will be offered on Aug. 1 for an additional fee of $85 (to be determined based on final costs per person by July 1). The fee for the overnight camp is due by July 15 and includes dinner, breakfast and room with same-age campers.
