Bee Heard

.There is a saying, you can’t fix stupid. So if you like the noise of your clanging wind chimes so much, bring them inside, close your windows and turn on a fan. Let your neighbors enjoy nature’s soothing summer breezes in peace.

.It’s June, half the year is over, and the Erie County Highway Department hasn’t swept up all the debris from last winter, and they have not started the complete repaving of Maple Road from Hopkins going east to Transit Road. They even failed last year to put up “rough road” signs, and the condition is beyond deplorable.

.Why was the Williamsville School Board not able to agree on sending a letter to state and federal legislators that would place limitations on people’s access to assault weapons and guns?

.On Memorial Day, we honor the memory of our brave servicemen and women who fought for the values that made this country truly great. That includes freedom to express or not express whatever patriotic feelings they have. Now we have multiple Bee Heard callers shaming their neighbors for not blindly displaying pieces of multicolor laundry on the holiday, and we have a president who personally demands rapt attention during the National Anthem. That’s not what our brave servicemen and women fought for; that’s what they fought against.

.Concrete paving lasts about 25 years, asphalt lasts 10 years before it needs repaving. Maple Road was last paved from Hopkins to Transit Road going east 20 years ago. I have paid more than $40,000 in property taxes to Erie County for their services, and it seems to me we are not getting our money’s worth when a road that has more than 40,000 cars a day on it is not paved from Hopkins going east to Transit. The condition of the road is worse than deplorable.
