Aquettes shine at East Zone Championships

Brenna O'Brocta Brenna O'Brocta The Town of Tonawanda Aquettes synchronized swim team recently traveled to Norton, Massachusetts, to compete in the East Zone 13-15 Age Group Championships at Wheaton College.

This was the first away meet for the team, and they posted great finishes in all events.

A high point of the competition was swimmer Brenna O’Brocta, a freshman at Sweet Home High School, being selected to the East Zone all-star team for taking fourth in the figures competition. She also took fourth in the solo competition.

Other highlights were the team clinching the silver medal in the combo event and placing second overall in total points for the high point team trophy.

Also placing for the Aquettes were Grace Melber, eighth in solo competition and 12th in the figures competition; Natalie Lesinski and Melber, sixth, and Alice Budzich and Maya Gentile, 11th, in the duet competition.

The Aquettes also took fourth in the team competition with Casey Barraclough, Alice Budzich, Emerson Donoughe, Carly Ermer, Maya Gentile, Mia Jaros, Avery McClaren and Emma Miller and (Res) Elizabeth Sirgey.

The combo competition of Barraclough, Budzich, Donoughe, Ermer, Gentile, Jaros, McClaren, Miller and Sirgey took second.
