Sacred Heart soccer’s losing skid hits three

The Sacred Heart girls soccer team’s losing skid hit three after dropping a non-league road game to Williamsville North, 6-0, Oct. 2 and a league game to Nardin, 3-2, Friday at the Buffalo Soccer Club.

Sharks’ goalie Alex Miller made 26 saves against North.

All five goals with Nardin came in the second half.

Aofie Scannell tied the game at 1-1 on an assist from Juliana Gambino. Gambino cut the deficit to 3-2 on an assist from Alyssa Piazza with five minutes left.

Miller finished with 14 saves.

As tough as the loss was, Sharks’ coach John Dobos credited senior captain Emily Yarbrough for encouraging the team after the game.

Sacred Heart (6-7, 4-3) faced Nichols Tuesday at D’Youville College, but information about the game was unavailable before The Bee went to press. Sacred Heart also hosts Mount St. Mary’s at 4:30 p.m. Thursday. Their final regular-season game is a non-league contest against Olmsted School at 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 16, at All-High Stadium.
