Sacred Heart cross-country wins small schools race at invitational

Alex Judge won a medal for finishing in the top 10, placing seventh out of 44 runners in 22 minutes, 40 seconds.

Elizabeth Venditti moved from the team’s sixth- to second place finisher and took 11th in 23:08.

Erin Hardick (13th, 23:35); Brigid Christ (15th, 23:36); Hannah Shabala (16th, 23:38); Sarah Wegman (22nd, 24:07); and Elizabeth Hill (27th, 24:48) also contributed to the win.

Recording personal records were Hannah Lewandowski (28:03) and Olivia O’Rourke (29:30) in the JV race, and Mary Lennon (27:07) and Katie Witnauer (30:32) in the 9-10 race.

Sacred Heart split league meets Oct. 3 at Ellicott Creek Park, beating Buffalo Seminary, 20-43, and losing to Nardin, 27-28. The Sharks’ league record is 2-2.

The Sharks run in the Alden Bulldog Stampede at noon Saturday at Alden High School. They run against St. Mary’s of Lancaster at 4:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 17 at Cazenovia Park.
