Taxes due Feb. 15; office hours extended

Town Clerk Marjory Jaeger is reminding Amherst residents that town and county taxes are due on or before Wednesday, Feb. 15, and alternative methods and extended hours will be available for collection.

Jaeger said there are several options to pay town and county taxes: by mail, in person, online and at select M&T Bank branches.

Full payments can be made by check or money order at the bank locations noted on the back of the tax bill.

An online payment, in which service fees would apply, may be made through e-check, credit and debit cards. Those payments can be made at www.amherst.ny.us.

In person, the Clerk’s Office accepts cash, checks, money orders, and, for an extra fee, credit and debit cards.

Mailed payments must be postmarked on or before Feb. 15 to avoid penalties.

Current office hours are from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. Extended office hours are from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15.

The Town Clerk’s Office is located at the Amherst Municipal Building, 5583 Main St., Williamsville.
