Anthony Desmond Browning, textbook broker

Anthony Desmond Browning, 63, of Clarence, died Wednesday, June 25, 2014.

Mr. Browning was born in Kingston, Jamaica, before moving to England for boarding school at the age of 8. After traveling for a good portion of his youth, he settled in Buffalo in 1978.

Over the past 25 years, he built a successful small business as a college textbook broker, serving many colleges in the area. He would often go on long drives to meet professors, who over the years became his friends and enriched his work.

In his spare time, Mr. Browning was an avid reader, particularly of historical nonfiction, and was a sports enthusiast, being a fan of the Buffalo Bills, Buffalo Sabres and English soccer. He also enjoyed traveling to tropical destinations with his family.

Mr. Browning was very faith oriented, being heavily involved at both Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church and St. Mary’s Church.

He is survived by his wife, Liane; two daughters, Nora and Claire; one son, Lawrence; two grandchildren; one brother, Andrew; and one sister, Thea Hemery.
