Amherst Central offers prekindergarten registration

The Amherst Central School District is currently holding prekindergarten registration for the 2012-13 academic year.

The half-day program, which is open to any 4-year-old child residing in the district, operates from three sites — Windermere Boulevard Elementary School, 291 Windermere Blvd.; Amherst Community Church Child Care Center, 77 Washington Highway; and Amherst Nursery School, 350 Saratoga Road.

Transportation is provided to and from the Windermere site. Parents are responsible for transportation at the Amherst Community Church and Amherst Nursery School sites.

Registration forms will be available through the Early Childhood Education Center at Windermere Elementary.

Placements are not guaranteed because class sizes are limited. Tentative placement letters will be sent to families in the last week of March, with district registration being held at the end of April.

As a result of the program being funded by grants, definite confirmation will occur only after the New York State budget is passed and universal prekindergarten funding is in place.

For more information about registration, call 362-4100.
