NAWBO to host small business meeting

The National Association of Women Business Owners will host a meeting at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, at Salvat ore’s Italian Gardens, 6461 Transit Road, Depew. The subject of the meeting is “Small Business Working Together to Promote Upstate New York.” Michael Durant, executive director of the National Federation of Independent Businesses, and Brian Sampson, executive director of Unshackle Upstate, will talk about how small businesses working together can promote Upstate New York. Durant and Samson will present ideas on how small business can — and must — unite to help the area compete against other regions of the state for support in Albany. Canisius WBC sets management discussion

The Canisius College Women’s Business Center, 2365 Main St., Buffalo, will host a two-hour discussion on “Management Styles and Communication” from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18. Visiting professor Diana Philips, from the University of Antwerp Department of International Business, will host the discussion, focusing on the impact of a manager’s style and how he or she communicates. SCORE plans workshop on owning business

Buffalo Niagara SCORE will host a “Starting and Managing Your Own Business” workshop from 8:15 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21, at 200 Redtrail Drive, Orchard Park. This all-day workshop includes marketing, finance, business law, insurance, tax and other aspects of starting a business.
