Cesidio Lucente, longtime business-owner

Lucente Lucente Cesidio “Cid” Lucente, 85, of Amherst, died Sunday, July 18, 2010.

Mr. Lucente was born in Pratola Peligna, Italy. He survived capture during World War II, and he immigrated to Canada and then later to the United States when he was 25 years old.

After working at a steel company and then as a cement finisher at the Niagara Falls Power Project, he became a cosmetologist.

With his wife, he opened Pia & Cid’s Hair Fashions in Eggertsville, where they enjoyed running the business for 39 years.

After retirement, he enjoyed a portion of each year spent at his home in Boynton Beach, Fla.

In addition to running the business, Mr. Lucente enjoyed gardening, tending to investment property and traveling the world.

Mr. Lucente is survived by his wife, Pia; son, Rocco; daughter, Licia Warren; four grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Mass was held Thursday, July 22, at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church.

Donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or the American Stroke Association.

Arrangements were made by Dengler, Roberts, Perna Funeral Home.
