Squirt Rangers double up Sharks

The Squirt Rangers beat the Sharks, 4-2, Sunday.

Abel Tefera’s of the Sharks willed away Rangers’ goalie Tony Lazarony shutout bid with a determined rush with four minutes left in their early morning tilt.

Shark goalie Mike Wahl was superb in the face of the nearly perfect Rangers and their patented disciplined full-ice aggressive, relentless and rampaging style.

Jim Spence stuffed one into the short side to start the scoring. Andy Cycz’s scored two goals, including a deflection of his brother Jeff’s laser point shot. Vincent Orlowski capped his efforts with a brilliant marker in the final frame.

Rangers 6, Stars 2

Vincent Orlowsky’s third period hat trick featuring goals from every conceivable angle, combined with his Squirt Rangers teammates’ three periods of tenacious play, smart positioning and clever finishes proved too much for the Stars in a intense skirmish of undefeated squads. The Rangers won 6-2.

Stars goalie Bobby Popp, and his Rangers’ counterpart, Ben Hingston, helped to keep the scoring down for two tightly played periods.

The skill players also had their moments including Andrew Fromen’s end to end short-handed gem, Ethan Barnes’ gritty goal, Andy Czyz’s lethal nifty backhanders and Robert Hawkins pinpoint short side shot.
