Girl Scouts thank public for donation

The Williamsville Girl Scout Service Unit would like to thank the public for their support of another outstanding cookie sale and their generosity for our Gift of Caring project: “Operation Cookie Drop.” The Girl Scouts asked the public, through door-to-door sales and cookie booths, if they would like to donate a package of cookies for “Operation Cookie Drop,” the Service Unit’s own program to send cookies overseas this year to soldiers and their units, all of whom are directly related to Girl Scouts within the Williamsville Service Unit.

Unbelievably, the girls collected 725 boxes of cookies through “Operation Cookie Drop.” We shipped out 485 boxes of cookies to soldiers and their units, located in Afghanistan, Iraq and Kuwait. Another 140 boxes were sent to the Family Readiness Center at the Niagara Falls International Air Reserve Base for their food baskets. Also, the VA Hospital received 100 boxes of cookies that were gift-wrapped and personally delivered on Dec. 21 by some of our Brownie troops.

The Williamsville Girl Scouts would like to say ”thank you” once again to all who donated a box of cookies to help make this holiday season just a little bit sweeter for our active and retired military personnel.
