Betty B. Morgan, active in community

Mor gan Mor gan Betty Byers Morgan, of Williamsville, died Saturday June 20, 2009.

Mrs. Morgan was born on May 30, 1922, in Pittsburgh. She attended Wooster College and graduated from Carnegie-Mellon University in 1942, where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.

While living in Pittsburgh, she worked at U.S. Steel's corporate headquarters from 1942 to 1954 and was active as the junior secretary of the Woman's Club of Wilkinsburg.

She also was a member of the Edgewood Community Club, Blackridge Civic Association and College Club of Pittsburgh.

Mrs. Morgan and her family moved to the Williamsville area in 1965. She and her husband, the late Robert A., served as former presidents of the Maple East Elementary School's Parent Teacher Association.

Active in community affairs, she was a longtime member and representative of the Williamsville Welcome Wagon; past president of Smallwood Garden Club; and a member of the Friends of the Amherst Symphony Orchestra, Woman's Board of Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital and senior Woman's Golf League. She also served as a greeter at Calvary Episcopal Church and volunteered at Studio Arena Theatre.

Mrs. Morgan was also preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara L.

She is survived by a son, Todd, and three grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 8, at Calvary Episcopal Church, 20 Milton St., Williamsville.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Hospice Foundation of Western New York or to the Calvary Episcopal Church music program. Arrangements were made by Amigone Funeral Home Inc.
