Volunteers needed at Weinberg Campus

A variety of volunteer opportunities for individuals and groups are available at Weinberg Campus, 2700 N. Forest Road, Getzville.

A senior care facility providing eight specialized living environments and a wide range of services, Weinberg is currently seeking volunteers to assist its senior residents with a variety of tasks.

"Volunteers are instrumental to the lives of the residents of Weinberg Campus," said marketing director Nicole Passantino.

Volunteers assist with activities, programs and in departments. Volunteers often set their own schedules, serving residents on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. They may also assist during special events that happen throughout the year.

Long-term and short-term volunteer opportunities are available that can accommodate both individuals and groups.

"Volunteers are absolutely vital, enhancing the activities, services and amenities that are enjoyed on a daily basis by our seniors," remarks Weinberg Campus volunteer coordinator Katie Phillips.

There is always a resident who could use a visitor, a special event that requires assistance or a service that could be provided.

"I started coming to Weinberg Campus when my mother became a resident," said Dolores Mroczka, a volunteer since 2003. "As I became familiar with the people and the facility, I was interested in volunteering. I've been a volunteer in the gift shop for over four years and have met many wonderful men and women who have some amazing stories to tell."

Volunteer opportunities include activity and day program assistants, centerpiece designer, deli server, friendly visitor, gift shop attendant, office assistant, sewer and other positions.
