New board members to oversee first meeting

The Amherst Town Board will hold its first meeting of 2008 on Monday, Jan. 7 at Town Hall, 5583 Main St., in the Village of Williamsville.

The purpose of the meeting will be reorganization for the new year.

New board members Mark Manna, Guy Marlette and Dr. Barry Weinstein will participate in the meeting after their recent installation. They were elected in November.

The board will now consist of three Democrats, Manna, Dan Ward and Deborah Bruch Bucki, and four Republicans, Marlette, Weinstein, Shelly Schratz and Supervisor Satish Mohan.

The agenda has not yet been set, but it is expected that Mohan will appoint Schratz as deputy supervisor for 2008.

Town Clerk Sue Jaros, who won re-election, will record her first meeting of this term.

Several key appointments in the town attorney's, comptroller's and engineer's departments will be discussed.
