Central Terminal documentary produced by resident

The Canisius College Video Institute documentary, "Central Terminal: Saving a Buffalo Landmark" made its premiere earlier this month on WNED-TV. The program, produced by Canisius Digital Media Arts majors Kristen Jahn, Scott Richardson and Barbara Irwin, traces the history of the building, its architectural and social significance, and the efforts of the Central Terminal Restoration Corporation.

Irwin, chair of the Communication Studies department and director of the Canisius College Video Institute, is a life-long resident of Amherst.

The documentary will re-air at 8:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2 and 12:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 7 on ThinkBright TV, digital 43.3 and Time Warner, 21. The production team shot footage in areas of the terminal that the general public cannot access. Through interviews with key individuals associated with the terminal, viewers will be told the history of the national historic landmark, its architecture, its impact on the economy and individual lives, and the years of private ownership and destruction.

The Canisius College Video Institute, under the direction of Irwin, has produced more than 20 documentaries and promotional videos.

"Our hope is that the documentary will assist the Central Terminal Restoration Corporation by creating a greater awareness of this treasured building," Irwin said.
