Pizur Pizur The new assistant principal of Sweet Home Middle School has been named.

The Sweet Home Board of Education approved Martin J. Pizur's appointment on Oct. 9. The new assistant principal will be joining Sweet Home from Amherst Middle School.

After seven years as a secondary math teacher, Pizur will begin his role as an administrator, tentatively, on Oct. 30.

Making the change after two months into the school year will be successful through collaboration, he said.

"The key is to forging meaningful relationships between the students, parents, faculty and staff," Pizur said.

He is replacing Sean Bruno, who left Sweet Home at the end of August for Brockport High School, where he was hired as principal.

Pizur said he has considered moving into an administrative role during his educational career.

He has been a secondary mathematics teacher at Amherst High School since 2000.

A native of Grand Island, he holds a bachelor's degree in mathematics secondary education from Buffalo State College, a master's degree in educational computing from Buffalo State College and a master's degree in educational administration and supervision from Canisius College.
