.This is directed to the homeowners living on MacArthur Drive, Presidio, Patton Place and McNair, as a homeowner it is your responsibility to shovel the sidewalks in front of your home. Safety is at risk, when kids getting off of school buses are forced to walk in the street because sidewalks aren't shoveled. What complicates the situation is your snowplow drivers piling up the snow where the sidewalk and the driveways meet. Neighbors, be considerate and shovel your sidewalks. I would hate to see this turn into a legal battle, should someone become hurt because of your negligence.

.When will Amherst Supervisor Satish Mohan release a verbatim text of his recent State of the Town speech? Not all taxpayers can afford to spend $30 for lunch with the Chamber of Commerce and take a day off work to listen to our State of the Town. And when is Satish Mohan going to release the final budget for the Town of Amherst? I expect the reason it is not released is because they still don't have it all settled and they still don't know what the numbers are going to be. He showed a lack of preparedness with respect to the annual town assessments and valuations that are going to cause the school taxes to increase.

.I want to thank the gentleman in the green van (whose name I did not get) for shoveling my car out that was stuck at the end of my driveway on Valentine's Day. Once you got me out, I was in the middle of Maple Road, and I couldn't stop. I hope you see this, for I am very grateful to you for your kindness to a stranger. Thank you, and have a great day!

.Did anyone catch the story showing that Windermere School has two principals? Two principals? Why do we need two principals at a school? It's time for Amherst to get together with its school systems (Williamsville, Sweet Home and Amherst) and eliminate all these administrators. Let's have one superintendent for all three school districts. This is ridiculous!

.To all the malcontents who call in constantly and blame Dr. Mohan for things he cannot control, because board members like Bill Kindel constantly try to thwart his efforts, it's not Dr. Mohan's inability to work with board members, it's the board members' inability to work with Dr. Mohan. Tax increases are not the fault of Dr. Mohan, who has been trying to find ways to cut taxes ever since he's been in office. Board members seem to be worried about getting votes from the town workers if cuts are not made. In order to have tax decreases, you have to reduce workers when necessary, cut frivolous spending and establish budget controls.

.in response to the postal services' appeal to have snow removed from sidewalks and driveways during the winter months, as a person who does shovel her sidewalk and driveway, I'm appealing to the postal service not to walk through my garden and across my bushes, and actually use the sidewalk that has been cleared of snow!

.A short comment to Amherst residents: Thank goodness for Dan Ward and Bill Kindel. They keep the board on an even keel. We need them!

.When voting for the county executive, let's remember who is always wondering what time the board meetings are going to end and how soon they can get home, and when is dinner. The person who is always is in a hurry to leave board meetings is Mr. O'Loughlin, so let's remember that when we are voting.
