Robert V. Calhoun, retired businessman

Calhoun Calhoun Robert V. Calhoun, 80, of Williamsville, a businessman and World War II veteran, died Friday, Dec. 15, 2006.

Born in Farrell, Pa., he moved to Buffalo

in 1938 and earned a bachelor’s degree in business from Canisius College.

Mr. Calhoun was vice president of Martin Fireproofing Corp, retiring in 1989. As a young adult, he worked on Great Lakes freighters for the Wilson Steamship Co.

Mr. Calhoun served as a Private First Class in the Marine Corps in the Pacific. He was qualified as an expert marksman. He was also an airplane mechanic.

Mr. Calhoun belonged to the George F. Lamm Post No. 622, American Legion, was an avid hunter and fisherman, a member of the National Rifle Association

and on the First Advisory Board of Mercyhurst College in Erie, Pa.

Mr. Calhoun is survived by his wife, Helen F.; a daughter, Colleen M. Mummert of Cowlesville, N.Y,; a son, Robert V. Jr. of Colden, N.Y.; and five grandchildren.

Services were held Friday, Dec. 22 from Beach-Tuyn Funeral Home.
