Paolinis celebrate 60 years with family dinner

Mr. and Mrs. Alfonso Paolini Mr. and Mrs. Alfonso Paolini Alfonso and Teresa Paolini of Amherst celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a family dinner at Marinaccio’s Restaurant in Williamsville.

Alfonso Paolini married Teresa Massa on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28, 1946 at St. Agatha’s Church in Buffalo.

Alfonso is a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army European Theatre from 1942 to 1945. In 2000, the U.S. House of Representatives awarded him the Jubilee of Liberty Medal by the governor of Normandy for his participation in Operation Overlord in 1944. He is a retired bartender and dining steward from The Place Restaurant and is a member of the San Pio Club and Veterans of Foreign Wars of U.S. No. 02940. He is also a sports enthusiast, favoring the Bills, the Sabres and the New York Yankees.

Teresa worked as a piston inspector at the Chevrolet plant from 1943 to 1946, during World War II. She is a retired waitress from The Saturn Club. She has been a member of the St. Lawrence Church Choir for 60 years, as well as the Congrega Society for St. Lawrence. Her hobbies include being a vocal soloist, walking dogs, cooking, baking and making candy.

Both Alfonso and Teresa have been members of St. Lawrence Church in Buffalo for 60 years and are Eucharistic ministers.

They have six children, seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
