Lawrence J. Cummings, electronics engineer

Lawrence J. Cummings, 81, of Amherst, an retired Electronics Engineer who also worked for the federal government for over 35 years, died Saturday, Nov. 19, 2005, after a brief illness.

Born in Buffalo, he was a graduate of Illinois Institute of Radio Engineer.

From 1950-1963, Mr. Cummings worked at Electronics Engineer for Bel Aerospace in Wheatfield. He also worked for the federal government for over 35 years for the Department of Naval Weapons, Internal Revenue Service, and US Postal Services.

He was a member for 24 years of the Youngstown Yacht Club and was a former recording secretary for the Ancient Order of Hibernians. He also belonged to Brownsville American Legion Post No. 205. He enjoyed fishing, boating, and was an avid sailor.

His wife, Dolores Catherine, died in 1989.

Mr. Cummings is survived by three daughters, Catherine Lyttle of Somerset, N.J.. Veronica Ziegler of Pine Bush, N.Y., and Ellen M. of Tonawanda; two sons, Lawrence C. of Tonawanda and Christopher of Williamsville; a brother, William of Buffalo; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Prayers were said Tuesday, Nov. 22 at (Tonawanda Chapel) Amigone Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial from St. Amelia Church.
