Beulah ‘Bea’ Lampka, candy store owner

Lampka Lampka Beulah “Bea” Lampka, 85, of Amherst, former owner and operator of A.Z. Lampka Candies in the Broadway Market, died Saturday, Oct. 8, 2005, in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital.

Born in Buffalo, she was a graduate of East High School and attended business school for two years.

She worked as an office manager for the Army Corp. of Engineers during the 1960’s. She owned and operated A.Z. Lampka Candies in the Broadway Market for over 40 years with her husband, Alexander Z. until their retirement in 1984.

Alexander died in 1988.

She was a member of the Army Corps of Engineers Retirees, North East YMCA, and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed the arts.

She is survived by two daughters, Diane Rapini of Cheektowaga and Nancy Simpson of Amherst; a son, David of Seoul, Korea; a sister, Jean Harber of Grand Island; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Prayers were held Tuesday, Oct. 11 at the (Tonawanda Chapel) Amigone Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Aloysius Gonzaga Church.
