The Williamsville South girls basketball team continued its season with another strong week as they added three big wins.
The Lady Billies had a dominant performance at Williamsville East on Feb. 6, winning 80-41.
South took a commanding 33-7 lead after the first quarter and never looked back.
Gretchen Dolan tallied 40 points and grabbed six rebounds. Leah Solomon chipped in with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Kimora Berry added 11 points, nine assists and eight rebounds.
South then hosted Starpoint on Wednesday.
Despite a slow start and a 15-14 deficit after the first quarter, South turned it around in the second quarter, outscoring Starpoint, 20-7. The Lady Billies continued their strong play in the second half, securing a 61-38 victory. Dolan led the way with 31 points, 14 rebounds and four steals, while Solomon added 11 points and 11 rebounds and Jayla Young chipped in 10 points and five rebounds.
The Lady Billies’ final game of the week was a road trip to Rochester to take on the Our Lady of Mercy Monarchs. It was a highly competitive game from start to finish, but South emerged with a 61-48 victory.
Dolan led the way with 38 points and 13 rebounds. Solomon contributed nine points and six rebounds. Berry added eight points and three steals.
“I’m proud of how the girls battled this week,” stated South coach Kristen Dolan. “There were lessons learned, and now we need to continue to work hard every day as we prepare for the next phase of the season.”
South (16-1 overall, 12-0 in ECIC II) traveled to Hamburg on Monday, but information about the game was unavailable before The Bee went to press. They host Iroquois at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday and travel to Williamsville North at 5 p.m. Friday.
