Library gala set for Friday

by HOLLY N. LIPKA Reporter

The seventh annual “Love Your Village/ Love Your Library” gala featuring silent and basket auctions, beer and wine tastings, and a “Mad Hatter” costume contest will be held from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9, at Calvary Episcopal Church, 20 Milton St., Williamsville.

The gala’s proceeds will benefit the Williamsville Branch Library, which relies heavily on donations for its operation.

Those who attend are encouraged to wear a creative or fun hat, or costumes inspired by “Alice in Wonderland.” Best-dressed patrons will win prizes.

A silent auction will take place at the gala, and items include a ride to school on a Williamsville fire truck, a one-week stay at the Chautauqua Institution, jewelry donated by village residents and an original oil painting of the Williamsville Water Mill by Myra Lenz.

A wine pull raffle and professional magician Mike Seege, who will be roving through the crowd performing sleight-of-hand magic tricks, are new to the event this year.

Tickets for the gala are $30 presale and $35 at the door. They are available for purchase at all four Amherst public libraries during regular library hours and at Village Artisans, 5560 Main St. They may also be purchased online at www.loveyourvillage.org.

The ticket price includes craft beer tasting provided by Pizza Plant and wine tasting from Share Kitchen and Bar. Hors d’oeuvres are also included and will be provided by numerous village restaurants.
