Historical Society Museum to open

The Village of Williamsville Historical Society Museum will be open from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10, at the Meeting House, 5658 Main St. near Mill Street. There will be displays, photos, maps, research material, uniforms and Glen Amusement Park information. Admission and parking are free. The museum will be open the second Sunday of the month from September through June.

Free bridge lessons to begin Jan. 7

Free bridge lessons for beginner and continuing bridge middle and high school students will be offered from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. every Sunday from Jan. 7 through March 11 at the Bridge Center of Buffalo, 3362 Sheridan Drive. Firehouse to collect food, coats

The Eggertsville Hose Company will be collecting nonperishable goods for its annual food drive and coats for Coats for Kids of Western New York starting at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13. Anyone donating items may drop the food or coats off at the firehouse, located at 1880 Eggert Road, or leave items outside their doors in a shopping bag on Dec. 7. Through a partnership with the Food Bank of Western New York, all donations will help Eggertsville families in need.

Amherst Book Club meeting slated

The Amherst Book Club will meet at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, at the Fairdale Banquet Center, 672 Wehrle Drive, Williamsville. Robert Poczik will review Betty Smith’s novel, “A Tree Grows In Brooklyn,” and Colman Toibin’s novel, “Brooklyn,” followed by a luncheon at 12:30 p.m. For more information, contact Linda Eaton at 854-3564.

BCN, Windsong to offer free seminar

The Breast Cancer Network of WNY will collaborate with Windsong Radiology Group to present a free seminar for breast cancer patients and survivors at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, at the Windsong facility, 55 Spindrift Drive, Williamsville. Registration is required and can be made online at www.bcnwny.org or by calling BCN at 706-0060. The program will include light refreshments.

Denny’s to host fundraiser

Denny’s Restaurant will host a fundraiser for the Center for Handicapped Children from 4 to 10 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13, at the Amherst location, 4445 Main St. A portion of the evening’s proceeds will be donated to the center. For more information, visit www.chclearningcenter.org or call 831-8422.

Temple to hold Achim Program

The Brotherhood of Temple Beth Zion will hold its free December Achim program at 10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 10, in the Meadows Building, located on the second floor at the Weinberg Campus, 2650 N. Beechwood Service Guild to host bazaar

The Beechwood Service Guild will hold its annual Christmas Tea and Mini Bazaar from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, at the Beechwood Homes, 2235 Millersport Highway, Amherst. The Trinity United Methodist Women will serve as hostesses.
