Paul Schiappa, founder of Super Duper Markets


Schiappa Schiappa Paul Schiappa, 86, of Williamsville, died Friday, Oct. 6, 2017.

Mr. Schiappa was born on Feb. 3, 1931, in Buffalo. He attended the University of Buffalo where he played for the football team. He also was a sergeant in the Marine Corps during the Korean conflict.

The founder of Super Duper Markets and their nine locations in Western New York, he also was the owner of 16 Arby’s restaurant locations.

He was active on the Liberty National Bank board of directors, a member of the Knights of Columbus, the benefactor of St. Patrick’s Church and a founding member of St. Gregory the Great parish in Amherst.

Mr. Schiappa is survived by his wife, Bernice (nee Clark); five children, Paula Schiappa, Lisa Anastasia, Samuel, David and Michael; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one sibling, Ronald.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, at St. Mary’s Church, 6919 Transit Road, Swormville. Arrangements were made by the Amigone Funeral Home Inc.
