Chamber’s ‘The Event’ set for Oct. 23

The Amherst Chamber of Commerce will host its annual “The Event — Celebrating Business Excellence,” at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 23, at Salvatore’s Italian Gardens, 6461 Transit Road, Depew.

Chamber officials said the evening will welcome more than 400 guests to recognize the accomplishments of eight businesses and individuals in the Buffalo Niagara region.

The Business of the Year Award will be presented to Dent Neurologic Institute. According to Chamber officials, the Dent Institute is one of the most comprehensive neurologic centers in the United States.

“All of our honorees this year have, and continue to have, a huge positive impact on our region,” said Colleen DiPirro, CEO of the Chamber. “Dent is one of the leading neurologic centers in the country, Honeywell created a molecule right here in Buffalo that is positively impacting our environment, 43North is greatly enhancing our entire region’s entrepreneurial spirit and reputation nationally.”

The CEO added that the Chamber is not only honoring these firms and individuals for their contributions to the community, but also celebrating the strides the region has made in the recent years as a whole, together.

Also being honored at The Event are two successful individuals who are also very committed to Western New York. Mary Wilson will be presented with the “Woman of Distinction Award,” sponsored by Kaleida Health, for her commitment to improving the lives of the people of the Buffalo area and beyond.

The second individual is Nick Sinatra, who will be presented with the “Entrepreneur Award,” sponsored by KeyBank, for his dedication to making his real estate firm one of the top in WNY as well as one of Buffalo’s fastest-growing businesses.

The remaining five awards and honorees include:

Stewardship — 43North The honor is sponsored by Uniland Development Company.

Revitalization — Reikart House. The honor is sponsored by Phillips Lytle LLP.

Hospitality — The Shatzel Group. The award is sponsored by Bank of America/ Merrill Lynch.

• Community Service — In- dependent Health Foundation. The honor is sponsored by National Fuel Gas Company.

• Innovation — Honeywell International, Inc. The award is sponsored by National Grid.

The evening, sponsored by M&T Bank, will include food stations, cocktails and networking among the region’s leading business representatives.

Individual seats are $99 for members and $125 for nonmembers. Tables of eight are available for $1,000 and include corporate signage and recognition at The Event.
