Free tastings slated at Tops Friendly Markets

A variety of free taste samples, including venison, local beer options, antipasto, Yancey’s fancy cheese, Perry’s ice cream and more, will be available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 31, at Tops Friendly Markets, 2351 Maple Road, Amherst. The event is free.

Eating Disorders Anonymous sets meeting

Eating Disorders Anonymous will host a new meeting at 6:30 p.m. every other Thursday, beginning Sept. 4, at The Hope Center, 781 Maple Road, near North Forest in Amherst. For more information, call Tina Edcatt at 380-4035.

Eye Openers scheduled at Audubon Library

Eye Openers, presented by Saralyn Notaro Rietz, ophthalmologist, retina specialist and surgeon, will take place from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 5, at Audubon Library, 350 John James Audubon Parkway, Amherst. Heathwood organizes caregiver support group

Heathwood Assisted Living at Williamsville, in partnership with the Alzheimer’s Association of Western New York, will hold “Just for Today” — a free support group for those caring for a loved one with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease. The group aims to provide emotional, educational and social support. The group will meet the first Tuesday of each month from 6 to 7 p.m. beginning Sept. 2. To register, contact Sandi at 688-0111.

St. Lawrence Parish sets Mass for Our Lady

A Mass for the devotion to Our Lady will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, at St. Lawrence Parish, 1520 East Delavan Ave., Buffalo, one block from Eggert Road and the Cheektowaga border. Along with the Mass, there will be a meeting and free continental breakfast. Those who are not members but who would like to attend the Mass and breakfast, can contact Mary Jean D. Auditions slated for ABC Bel Canto

Auditions for ABC Bel Canto are taking place for the upcoming school year. The choirs include Presto, which showcases students in grades three through six; Vivace, for grades six through 12; and Bravo, a mixed-voice ensemble with changed male voices and high school-age women. The choirs will rehearse on Thursdays at Christ United Methodist Church, 350 Saratoga Road, Amherst. Alzheimer’s Association schedules free workshop

The Alzheimer’s Association Western New York Chapter will offer a free educational program, “The Basics: Memory Loss, Dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease,” for anyone who would like to learn more about the disease.
