Response by rescue personnel praised
A supersized thank you is in order for an outstanding effort by the Amherst fire service in quickly bringing under control the fire at 4553 Main St. on Dec. 28.
The speedy response by Snyder firefighters and the support by Main-Transit Fire Department, Eggertsville Hose Company and the Amherst police made the difference between a fire-damaged office building that will be rebuilt and what could have been the total destruction of buildings and businesses facing Main Street and Bernhardt Drive.
This tragedy serves to remind us of the full value of Amherst’s exceptional police and fire services.
We must commend 3D Development for moving quickly with the cleanup and their decision to rebuild the property with a facade that will enhance the character of the Snyder community.
The cooperation and genuine concern among tenants and building management are another note that promises a happy ending to an unfortunate incident.
As a final thought, I want to mention that constituent service through my district office will continue uninterrupted through the rebuilding period. My office telephone number, 836-0198, remains in service, and necessary constituent meetings will be scheduled using temporarily vacant space at the Legislature.
