Dolores A. Kuhn, founded New Experience Nursery School
Dolores A. Kuhn (nee Ucci), of Williamsville, died Thursday, Nov. 4, 2010, at home.
Mrs. Kuhn was born Feb. 26, 1941, in Buffalo. She graduated from Kensington High School in 1958 and Rosary Hill College in 1962 with a bachelor’s degree in education.
During the 1960s, she taught at Grover Cleveland High School in Buffalo. She then began a career in preschool education.
She founded New Experience Nursery School, one of Western New York’s first preschools.
Thousands of children were educated at her four preschool locations at churches in Amherst, Eggertsville, Williamsville and Clarence. For more than 33 years, she taught 4-years-olds.
Mrs. Kuhn also served on the hospital board at Women and Children’s Hospital of Buffalo for many years and was chairwoman of the Festival of Trees in 1992. In addition, she was active in both the church and school of St. Gregory the Great, in the Home School Association, Parish Council and the finance committee.
Mrs. Kuhn is survived by her husband, Jack; daughters, Lisa Mahoney and Ann Kuhn Grano; and brother, Patrick Ucci.
A Mass was held Monday, Nov. 8, at St. Gregory the Great Church.
