South girls opens season with 7-0 wins

The Williamsville South girls bowling team, undefeated in ECIC Division II last year, picked up where they left off, opened ECIC II league play with 7-0 victories over Iroquois Dec. 15 at Lancaster Lanes and West Seneca East last Wednesday at Transit Lanes.

“The girls did what they were suppose to do against West Seneca East and Iroquois,” said South coach Steve Delisanti. “We came up with some big team and individual numbers. We look to build on those scores as the season will get tougher each week.”

“A” team anchor Becca Kent led South against West Seneca East with a 679 set with games of 233, 223 and 223. Her sister, Tricia, was second on the team with a 633 set, including a 237. Missy Vetrano (184-515) and Rachel Broardt (198-473) also contributed to the “A” team.

Christina Webb led the Lady Billies’ “B” team with a 446 set, including a 156.

Tricia Kent led South against Iroquois with a 550 set, including games of 200, 175 and 175. Becca Kent (189-539), Broardt (188-524) and Vetrano (179-500) also bowled for the “A” team.

Haley Carroll paced the South “B” team with a 195 and 501 set.

South bowled Amherst Tuesday at Airport Lanes but the result was unavailable before The Bee went to press. South bowls in the Festival of Lights Tournament at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29.
