.I was so disgusted by the big kids that came trick or treating on Halloween this year. About 95 percent were kids I couldn’t see eye to eye because they were so tall. They were older and they were rude. I gave out small things for little kids and they’d take one look at what I was giving out and they would swear going down the stairs. They were being dropped out by the carloads. I live in Eggertsville. If I don’t sell my house by next Halloween, I won’t be giving any candy out on Halloween. I won’t put up with that.

.After 65 years of continuous voting, I’m calling it quits. I got up early to vote at the town hall. At 6 a.m., six people were still bumbling around in their attempt to be ready for voters. After waiting around, I could see these people were unprepared for the job. Not only were the voting personnel derelict in their duty, but the entire system is a travesty.

.Amherst is not the safe city that everyone wants it to be or thinks that it is. Our cars were broken into at a concert at Williamsville North High School parking lot last Wednesday night. After talking to many people, I learned this has happened several times in the past along with wallets and several other things being stolen at the school. It would be good if the school would let people know about these incidents, so we would take precautions.

.I would like to inform The Amherst Bee and its readers that St. John Lutheran Church in Amherst on Main Street is not CORE affiliated and has no plans on leaving the ELCA. Last Saturday’s meeting was held at our church, but we have no affiliation with any group trying to divide our faith-based Lutheran church.

.When are leaves in the Snyder area going to be picked up? It’s into the first week in November, and we have yet to see a pickup. In the past, we’ve had at least two pickups by now. Where are our tax dollars going?

.Interesting but not surprising the article by Jim Hayes in connection with the fraud for Medicaid. Not so interesting but not surprising is that the state and the government seem to not be interested in doing anything. We really need to have this health care program cleaned up and changed.

.Kudos to Trustee Kingsley for again making the right decision on the whole Kevin Gaughan fiasco. Instead of having the board waste its time in a PR campaign it cannot win, Kingsley is again focusing on making the village better and more efficient. To date, some of his accomplishments include saving the mill, exposing the truth about the village administrator payoff and trying to establish greater consolidation of services for the town and county. When will the rest of the board wake up and follow his leadership? He has been proven right time and time again.

.I can see no reason for the Village of Williamsville to exist other than it allows village government an officially permitted motive to buttress and promote Main Street businesses. Now Mayor Lowther professes her need to consult with a village association for reasons why villages are a principal factor leading to long life and happiness. The answer is, villages do no such thing. Village tax collections are being squandered maintaining duplicate services already provided by the town. This nightmare is coming to an end.

.Would someone tell the people who live on Troy Del Way to get their leaves out of the road? It’s like an obstacle course trying to drive down that street, especially at night. The police should check this out and see how dangerous it is. Leaves should be left in the right-of-way not in the street.
