The Amherst Kiwanis Club has awarded $1,000 college scholarships to three seniors: Bradley Hahn of Williamsville South High School; David Ban of Williamsville East; and Ariel Bauerle of Sacred Heart Academy.
Anna Pressman a seventh grade student at Kadimah School in Amherst won third place in the Erie County American Legion's Americanism Essay contest. This year's theme was "Soldiers, Past and Present … America, Honor Your Veterans," and the contest was open to all seventh and eighth grade students in Erie County.

Brian Killeen of Snyder, a junior at St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute has been named the recipient of the Williams College Book Award. Criteria for the award includes, a junior ranking in the top 5 percent of his class;
