      The Amherst Meals on Wheels program honors its more than 350 volunteers every spring. They have a nice lunch in the comfortable Senior Center and enjoy an afternoon of comradery.

      125 Years Ago Jan. 10, 1884 The ice gatherers have been rapidly filling their houses this week. Mr. Amos Hinkley reports there were twenty burials in the Williamsville Cemetery in 1883. Our townsman, W.G. Lee, purchased the first ticket that was used by the West Shore Rail Road from Buffalo to Akron.

Fighting for jobs and lower taxes to return prosperity to upstate
      While jobs and people have been fleeing upstate New York for several decades, a recent state report says that wild turkeys have been, uh, flocking here in droves. Back around 1960, there were no wild turkeys left in New York State, the once-thriving population having been driven out by a habitat that had become hostile to their survival.
