WWII vet, wife mark 60 years of marriage

Mr. and Mrs. George Miller

Ruth and George Miller of East Aurora celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a family gathering at The Old Orchard Inn in East Aurora.

George Miller married the former Ruth Johnston on July 25, 1948, in York, Pa.

George is a retired engineer from Goergen-Mackwirth Company. He is a World War II Marine veteran who received a Purple Heart in 2005, 62 years after sustaining a wound during the Battle of Guadalcanal, and remains active at the VFW Elma Memorial Post 5861. Ruth is active with the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and enjoys bowling. The couple are active with the Elma Senior Citizen Center.

They have two children, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
