Three teens found living in vacant home, charged
A real estate agent arrived at a Sunshine Drive home to find it was already occupied.
The agent told Amherst Police she went to the home at noon Monday and found three teens inside. They reportedly bolted from the home through a back window. Police set up a perimeter and apprehended the teens shortly after the call.
Assistant Chief Timothy Green said it appeared they had been living there. All three, two of whom are 16 and one is 17, were charged with burglary.
Their names could not be released because it was unknown if they had been granted youthful offender status in Amherst Court.
Green said two of the males had been living at Gateway Longview and the other has an Alden address.
Police were called to another burglary call at 2 a.m. Sunday. A Springville Avenue resident told police he heard noises downstairs and saw someone standing in the house. He yelled to the person, and the suspect left through the front door. It appeared the suspect was attempting to steal the TV.
He is described as a white male, 5-feet, 11-inches tall and in his 20s. Green said the screen had been pulled off of a window.
