Fourth of July celebration planned

The Town of Amherst's annual Independence Day celebration will fill the sky with music and fireworks.

Kicking off the celebration is the Billy McEwen Band from 7 to 8:15 p.m. Friday, July 4, at the University at Buffalo's North Campus. The Erie County Wind Ensemble will play from 8:45 to 9:45 p.m. A fireworks display will follow at Lake LaSalle. This year's display will be partially choreographed to music and will be electronically fired. The alternative date is Saturday, July 5.
