Steve Glamuzina recently opened his newly renovated 10,000-square-foot wine retail and education facility, Georgetown Square Wines and Liquors. The business offers wine education classes, tastings and other special events.

William Scott Saperston of Amherst was named to Smith Barney's Blue Chip Council, a recognition program for financial advisers, who within their first five years demonstrate the highest professional standards in addition to excellence in client service. He has been a member of Smith Barney for more than two years, with eight years served in the financial services industry. He was previously with the Private Wealth Management Group at Goldman Sachs in Chicago.

Excelsior Orthopaedics, located in Amherst, recently had Stan Kush, a certified public accountant, join the practice as the director of finance. His financial background includes 14 years of accounting experience in the health care industry in addition to 12 years of auditing experience in the banking industry and government entities. Also joining Excelsior is Carm Caruana, named director of human resources and organizational development. She originally worked in physician practices as an office manager but has spent the last 16 years at Independent Health.

The Karen Butterson Insurance Agency, located in Amherst, has been recognized by Allstate Insurance Company for high standards in customer satisfaction, customer retention and profitability. The agency has achieved the distinctive Allstate Regional Champion Gold Level award and is one of the top Allstate agencies in the nation in auto, property and commercial insurance and financial service sales.

The DENT Neurologic Institute, a neurology group in Amherst, has recruited Joseph V. Fritz as its new executive director. Fritz will also function as the technical director of its affiliated not-for-profit research organization known as the DENT Neuroscience Research Center. As executive director, Fritz is the chief administrative officer responsible for leading the operational and strategic efforts of the DNI and DNRC and reports to a five-member executive committee.

Julie Israel of Scheff Insurance Agency Inc. of Amherst was recently honored by the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors with a certificate of achievement for dedication and leadership in the insurance industry.
