St. Greg's varsity 'A' softball cruising at 6-0 St. Greg's varsity "A" softball team continues their quest for an undefeated season and a repeat as the Diocese of Buffalo's Northtowns League Champions. The Cougars' ultimate goal is to earn a repeat spot in the diocesan semifinals in which they fell to St. John's of Kenmore, 2-1, last year. The Cougars have shown no mercy to any of its opponents so far, winning all games this season by the mercy run rule. They've outscored their opponents, 94-16. Their last four games included victories against St. John's, 20-2, St. Dominic's, 17-2, St. Amelia's, 19-9, and St. Christopher's, 12-2. In the four games, starting pitcher Hannah O'Sullivan has struck out over 18 batters, scored 10 runs, had eight hits, and knocked in 12 RBIs. Siohban Dwyer is the Cougars' closing pitcher and has struck out over 10 batters, scored 10 runs, had 10 hits, and knocked in seven RBIs. Lisa Harb has 10 hits, including two home runs, one of which was a grand slam, scored nine runs, and knocked in 12 RBIs. Emily Ludwig has 13 hits (two doubles, two triples), scored eight runs, and knocked in 13 RBIs. Claire Mangano has eight hits, scored 13 runs and knocked in six RBIs. Mary Kate Comer has seven hits, scored seven runs and six RBIs. Lara MacDonald has two hits, scored four runs and two RBIs. Kelly Farrell, outfielder Melissa Gleico, Maria Patnella, Maria Giangreco, Arianna Nasca and Alissa Vacanti have combined for 13 hits, 12 runs scored and 10 RBIs. The Cougars have successfully stolen over 50 bases to date. There are four regular season games remaining (St. Amelia's, St. Andrew's - double header, and St. Christopher's) which the Cougars hope to continue playing their level of softball to maintain the undefeated season. |
