Amherst Girls Softball 'AA' Rattlers tame Bats, 13-7

The Rattlers surged to an 8-2 lead in the fourth inning before the Bats made it 8-7 in the bottom of the fourth.

The Rattlers won 13-7.

The Rattlers surged ahead and played fine defense in the final inning.

Victoria Rucinski, Abby Ferenczy and Anneke Carlo provided firepower for the Rattlers.

Hanna LaDuca, Rebecca Winnert and Valerie King (in her first softball game ever) provided offense for the Bats.

Pitcher Shannon Stockman started for the Rattlers while Kayla Murphy started for the Bats.

Defensively, fine plays were turned in by the Bats' Katherine Simonian and Kayla Murphy and the Rattlers' Alyssa Curtis and Elise Faut.

SeaDogs 18, Ironbirds 15

The Ironbirds hosted the SeaDogs on Thursday night.

The opening inning saw the SeaDogs' Kady Zilinski and Emily Quarterly make outstanding offensive plays with great defense by the Ironbirds' Christina Tuffilaro and Deanna DiBalsi, who also was outstanding at hitting.

In the third inning, the SeaDogs' Ashley Lymburner made an amazing first catch at shortstop, holding the Ironbirds to one run in the third.

In the fourth inning, the SeaDogs' Nicole Stuber threw to first baseman Leah Marsack for the first out.

The game finished with the SeaDogs winning their second game of the season.

Red Wings 17, Rivercats 12

Both teams scored the maximum five runs in the fourth inning.

The Red Wings' Gina Rizzo and the Rivercats' Avonlea Matheny each had three runs to lead their teams.

In the bottom of the third, the Red Wings were able to get three consecutive outs on the first three Rivercats making for the only scoreless at bat for either team.

Bulls 20, Blueclaws 14

Camryn Warren and Marisa Warren each had four hits.

Shea Warren, Emily Schwarz, Izzy Lynch, and Marissa Camacho each had three hits. Camryn Warren scored four runs.

The Bulls recorded nine outs in the last three innings.

The Bulls were led by Shannon Freeman with three put outs. Emily Schwarz, Sofia Carlo, Izzy Lynch, Camryn Warren, Marisa Warren, and Shea Warren each recorded one out.

' AAA'

Rattlers 13, Storm 5

The Rattlers' Avery Goods and Abby Ferenczy each had two hits. Melanie Powell of the Storm hit a home run.

Defensively, the Rattlers' Shannon Stockman and Makenna Dean had strong pitching performances.

Alyssa Curtis had a strong game in the field and Katie Moscati and Sydney Telaak both made nice defensive plays to end the game.

Tiana Andrews of the Storm played well at first base.

Volcanoes 12, Bees 2

With Hannah Miller and Melissa Wolf catching, Volcano pitchers Jordan Weinstein and Alexis Graesser combined for a 12 strikeout no-hitter in a 12-2 win over the Bees.

Both pitchers showed power at the plate with Graesser hitting an RBI single in the third and Weinstein hammering a two-RBI double in the fourth.

Maryann Webb and Dani Burden each added RBI singles with Ariana Revelas leading the charge with RBI singles in the first and second innings.

The Bees' Nicole Perlino teamed up with Kayltn Wertz in the second and Alia Zeid in the third to get the final out in each inning.

Majors Division 14 and under

Padres 9, Diamondbacks 1

Sydney Millman, Hailey Wageman and Abigail Cimato each had two hits and scored five of the 2-0 Padres' runs.

Kelsey Gramlich also scored twice on two walks and Stephanie Tirone chipped in with a single and one run scored.

Cimato earned her first win of the year, holding the Diamondbacks to one hit over three innings and striking out three. Emily Fleming earned her first save of the year, striking out 12 over four innings.

The Diamondbacks were led by Jenny Gilbert and Julia Lynch, who were both forced into their first pitching appearance and combined for 12 strikeouts.

'Major'

Cubs 6, Orioles 6

The Cubs and Orioles battled to a tie game with strong pitching from Cubs pitchers Emilee Foster and Natalie Ryan.

Allison Balk, Mary O'Connor and Hannah Stroud each hit the ball well, and runs were scored by Allison Balk, Sarah Block, Kim Brace, May O'Connor and Hannah Stroud.
