Mel Ott Minor 'A' Red Sox defeat Nationals

The Mel Ott Minor "A" baseball Red Sox beat the Nationals, 9-6, on a rainy evening when both teams battled each other and the elements.

John Gray (two runs scored) and Louis Chiavetta (three runs scored) each had three singles for the Red Sox.

Ben Zenosky (triple, two singles) and PJ Oehman (three singles) also contributed to a strong offensive performance by the Red Sox, which had 19 hits.

The Red Sox are 2-0-2. The Nationals scored twice in the top of the sixth before the Red Sox got the last two outs at home plate to seal the victory.

Red Sox 7, Yankees 7

Ben Zenosky led the Red Sox offense with four hits and one run scored.

Jordan Chatelle (two RBIs), Luke Pappagallo (two RBIs), and Louis Chiavetta (two runs scored) each had three hits for the Red Sox.

The Red Sox took the early lead in the first inning when Sam Schultz singled in the first run.

The Red Sox scored seven runs in the first three innings while the Yankees battled back to score one run in the fourth and three runs in the fifth to earn the tie.

Nationals vs. Red Sox

Alex Hazzan played a great game at first base and at the plate. Ben Trautwein and Ella Mazzara also had great hits.

The play of the game was Anthony Genau fielding a ground ball and throwing to Hazzan to make the out.

'Minor' softball

Heat 10, Connie Mack Mets 1

Jada Brenon, Melanie Kindron, and Maria Frascatore all had big hits, contributing to a 10-run barrage for the Heat in a victory over the Connie Mack Mets.

Frascatore and Brenon each scored two runs.

Brianna Spence pitched a nine-strikeout no-hitter over three rain-soaked innings to preserve the win.

'Major' softball

Bandits 12, Marlins 8

The Bandits trailed the entire game until they scored two runs in the fourth inning.

The Marlins rallied to tie it at 8-8 in the top of the fifth and then the Bandits came to life to put four more runs on the board in the bottom of the fifth.

Kayla Hutchinson and Michelle Dachs each posted three RBIs.

Kelsey Gangi recorded two RBIs and scored three runs.

Lauren Torrisi also scored three runs. She finished 3 for 3, including a double. Michelle Dachs threw five strikeouts over three innings. Gangi tossed six strikeouts over two innings.
