Lady Spartans' track finish second at Starpoint
The Lady Spartans finished with 59 points, 10 points behind first place Starpoint. Sarah Mikulski and Caitlin Triantafillou set a meet record in the 400-meter hurdles, running a combined time of 2:22:97 FAT. The old meet record was a hand held time of 2:23.3 set by Clarence in 2006. Mikulski and Triantafillou's individual times of 1:09.08 and 1:13.89 were personal bests. Sarah Loud and Kim Berus also helped North win the 800 in 4:59.73. Each had individual personal bests and sectional provisional times (Loud, 2:30.39; Berus (2:29.34). Rachel Dorogi and Caitlin Curry took fifth in the 2000 steeplechase in 17:16.30. Dorogi established the team's first ever freshman school record in the steeplechase in 8:37.2. Curry ran an 8:39.1. Both are sectional provisional times. Dorogi also ran a personal best 11:48.23 in the 3000. Dorogi and Natalie Worley, who ran a personal best 12:06.60, combined for third in the 3000 in 23:54.83. Mikulski and Amy Loud took second in the 100 hurdles in 31.84. Loud's time of 16.65 was a personal best. The Lady Spartans' 4x800 relay of Berus, Sarah Loud, Triantafillou and Kim Schueler posted an automatic time for sectionals of 10:11.01. The quartet placed second. The 4x400 relay of Jessica Little, Michele Bauman, Whitney Barrett and Schueler took fourth in 4:18.86. The 4x100 of Little, Mikulski, Bauman and Amy Loud came in eighth in 52.52. Little and Amy Loud posted personal bests and sectional provisional times in the 200 with times of 27.45 and 27.49, respectively. The duo combined for a time of 54.94 and fifth place. Barrett and Bauman placed sixth in the 400 dash in 2:10. Bauman's time of 1:05.33 was a personal best. Worley and Schueler took sixth in the 1500 in 10:54.21. Each ran personal bests and sectional provisional times (Worley, 5:39.38; Schueler, 5:14.83). Little and Raven Baxter also took 17th in the 100 dash in 27.56. In the field events, Emily Curry and Bauman triple jumped a combined height of 61-11. Bauman leapt a personal best 30-11; Curry was at 31-0. Emily Curry and Barrett high jumped 9-6 for fifth. Emily Curry and Stephanie Kranz threw the discus a combined 166-4 for sixth. Kranz's throw of 83-0 was a personal best. Curry threw 83-4. Emily Curry also placed 11th with Baxter in the long jump in 27-9. Sarah Khan (7-6) and Ashley Materise (7-0) threw the pole vault 14-6 to take tenth. In other North girls track news: Dawn Hu set the school record in 1600 racewalk at the Batavia Invite on Saturday. She placed fourth in 9:35.42 FAT. North ran Lancaster on Tuesday at North but the result was unavailable before The Bee went to press. |
