Williamsville North Student Council proudly recognizes the outstanding achievements of two members of its senior class each month. Students featured in this column are selected by faculty recommendation. The Senior Spartan Spots for May are Britney Talty and James Nesper.

Nesper, son of Paul and Kathleen Nesper of Getzville, is an esteemed member of North's National Honor Society and has been honored as a scholar-athlete throughout his entire high school career. While maintaining his respectable academic average, Nesper participated on North's varsity soccer team, being named All ECIC Division I All Star and earning All Western New York First Team status. He also was named the 2007 MVP as sweeper.

Aside from assisting North's varsity soccer to achieve greatness, Nesper led his Amherst Travel Soccer team as their captain. Outside school, Nesper is an active member of his community by volunteering through the Amherst Y.E.S Program, the Heathwood Nursing Home and participating in a golf outing benefiting the Hemophilia Foundation.

Nesper is a U.S. Soccer Federation licensed soccer referee and volunteers to teach vacation Bible camp at St. Gregory the Great.

After graduation, Nesper will be attending Canisius College in the fall, majoring in accounting and accounting systems.

Talty, daughter of Timothy and Barbara Talty of Getzville, is the secretary of North's Math Honor Society and a member of the National Honor Society, the Senior Steering Committee and Student Council.

Aside from contributing in several academic clubs, Talty is the captain of the varsity swim team, where she has been a member for four years. She has also had an important role in the Wheatfield Blades Ice Hockey team.

Outside school, she volunteers as a coach for Girls House FCE Hockey (Amherst Youth Hockey) and has also helped out by coaching spring hockey clinics.

Talty has made the decision to attend the University of Massachusetts after graduation to study business management and eventually go on to law school.
